God’s
plan for all believers is to live in the fullness of all He has promised us in
His word. To live in His grace, love, peace, joy, and so on. The Bible is full
of His promises for us to receive, but many times we live life not fulfilling
what God has purposed for our life. One of the reason is that we have not known
what God has given us as His children, what is our inheritance and what is the
hope of our calling. How can we walk in the fullness of God’s promises.
When
we read Genesis 1: 1-2. We see the God
who is able to create, bring forth and establish things in the earth but the
Bible said that the earth is empty and void. That means there is nothing was
created in the earth up to verse 2. But God was there and the Holy Spirit was
hovering over the face of the deep.
The word ( the Holy Spirit was hovering over
the face of the deep) is a picture of a hen (chicken ) brooding over her
egg. Why brooding over the egg because
the hen knows there’s going to be life
coming forth from the egg.
The
Holy Spirit was brooding over the face of the deep because He is brooding over
the earth for something is about to be created by the Almighty God. So when God
Almighty said let there be light, the Holy Spirit of God who was brooding over
the face of the deep took the word and formed the sun that bring about light to
the earth. As the Lord God Almighty spoke every time the Holy Spirit took what
was spoken and bring about according to the Word of God.
In
Matthew 3:16 is a story of how Jesus was baptised and be filled with the Holy
Spirit. The same picture that was given in Genesis 1:1-2 is the same picture
given here in the life of Jesus (chicken ) brooding over her egg. We can see in the life of Jesus, that for 30
years of His life there was no record of miracles, signs and wonders in His
ministry. Jesus was known for the wisdom and understanding that he had grown
into but no signs and wonders. But the moment He was filled with the Holy
Spirit, Jesus began to walk in divine power with signs and wonders following His
ministry. What happened? Now Jesus is filled with the promises of God and
filled with the Holy Spirit of God that gave life and brought something that
was not there to become. And the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk and
the dead are raised. The word and the Spirit is joined together that produce
the very power and life of God to flow.
In
the book of Acts 2:3 talks about the baptism of the Holy Spirit that the
disciples received in the upper room. The picture given here is the same
picture that was in Genesis 1:1-2, Mathew 3:16 and here in Acts 2:3 they all
give the same picture (chicken ) brooding over her egg.
Look
at the life of Peter who ran and denied Jesus 3 times, then preached after the
experience of the Holy Spirit. What happened? The word of God was taught to the
disciples by Jesus but there was no miracles, signs and wonders. When the Word
and the Holy Spirit mix together in the
life of believers, the old Peter who ran away is now standing and preaching to
3000. The Bible records of people giving their life to Jesus and becoming
believers.
We
have to grow in God’s word and be filled in God’s Holy Spirit then we can see and experience the
wonderful life that Jesus prepared for us all.
Life
without the word of God is a life without substance to create. Life without the
Spirit of God is life without the power to create. But having the substance
which is the word of God and having the power to create which is the Holy
Spirit of God means a life full of power fulfilling all that God has purposed
for us all.
